    【西郷孤月】1873-1912
    明治時代の日本画家。明治6年9月23日生まれ。29年母校東京美術学校(現東京芸大)の助教授となる。
    31年師の橋本雅邦とともに辞職し,日本美術院の創立に参加。雅邦の娘と結婚,将来を期待されたが,のち離婚し,放浪生活をおくった。
    大正元年8月31日死去。40歳。長野県出身。本名は規。作品に「春暖」など。
