    ●作者：杉本健吉 (すぎもと けんきち、1905 - 2004) 愛知県名古屋市出身
    洋画家、イラストレーター、グラフィックデザイナー
    愛知県立工業学校図案科卒業。
    画家を目指し、20歳の時に尊敬する岸田劉生の弟子となりました。
    絵を学ぶ傍ら、ポスター制作や商業デザインの仕事をし、名鉄パノラマカーのカラーリング, 名古屋市営地下鉄のマーク, 常滑市の市章, 青柳ういろうのマークなどを手掛けました。
    　吉川英治と出会い、交流を深め、吉川英治の大河小説『新・平家物語』『私本太平記』『新・水滸伝』の挿絵を担当し、絶賛を得ました。
    　昭和62年愛知県知多郡美浜町美浜緑苑に杉本美術館が開館しました。
    　主な受賞、国展国画奨励賞(昭和12年), 文展特選(昭和17年), 第2回日展特選(昭和21年), 第1回中日文化賞(昭和23年)。

    本作では、法隆寺や興福寺などに存在する四天王像に踏みつけられた邪鬼を描いています。
