    それは山深き奥会津の山中で偶然発見された楢の木の老木。直径１メートルを超える空前絶後の瘤杢は、中心部をウロ化させ黒々とした光を放っていました。これほどの瘤杢を見るのは初めての経験で今回その一部を入手することが出来ました。ある種の畏怖を感じさせるこの瘤杢本体の大きさは、推して知るべし。入手した材を持ち帰り、木取りすると見事な文様が現れました。その又とない取って置きの楢の瘤目を使ってペンダントを作ってみました。その杢の凄さには舌を巻きます。
