    独特の画風が人気の浮世絵師、月岡芳年。その連作「月百姿」の『赤壁月（せきへきのつき）』です。龍香堂と親交の有る版画研究室から買い取りました。芳年の得意とする構図の妙を手摺木版で忠実に復刻した作品です。

    ◎こちらは額に入れた状態なので、すぐに飾ることが出来ます。

    ※画像３は使用した版木と裏面の画像です。版画用染料が裏写りしているのは、印刷ではないことの証しです。

    ●月岡 芳年（つきおか よしとし）：幕末から明治前期にかけての浮世絵師。12歳で歌川国芳に入門。その画業は幅広く、歴史絵・美人画・風俗画・古典画・合戦絵など多種多様な浮世絵を手がけ、各分野で独特の画風がある。構図や技法の点で工夫が見られ、動きの瞬間をストップモーションのように止めて見せる技法は現代のマンガや劇画に通じるものがあり、劇画の先駆者との評もある。

    【作品解説】月百姿（つきひゃくし）：1885～1892年の7年間の歳月をかけて発表した大判錦絵。月岡芳年は自分の名から月に対する思い入れが深く、晩年の傑作として『月百姿』という月にちなんだ説話、能、歌舞伎を題材にした百枚に及ぶ連作を描いている。この『赤壁月（せきへきのつき）』は、筆禍で流刑になった中国北宋の詩人「蘇東坡」が明月下の清風の中で、こんな無限の命の前では自分が流人である憂いなど全く儚いものと悟り、感慨を述べた赤壁の賦の一場面である。荒々しくも濃淡が美しい水墨画風の崖山、それと対象にのんびりと進む小舟の風流さが素朴な味わいを醸し出している。
