    トロエルス・ヴェルセルはデンマーク 、ダンマルク州オーフスで生まれた。独学で学んだ彼は、1970年代にポップアートやコンセプチュアルアートに興味を持つようになります。彼の作品は空間と時間の関係などの哲学的な問題を題材にされております。

    1981年には、ミュンヘンとケルンで開催された先駆的な展覧会「Rundschau Deutschlan」や、ベルリンのアカデミー・デア・キュンステで開催された「Bildwechsel」に参加しました。2007年には第50回ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレにデンマーク代表として参加。

    1995年にはエッカーズベルグ・メダルを受賞し、2002年にはカーネギー芸術賞一等賞、2004年にはトールバルゼン・メダルを受賞しています。2018年中にドイツのケルンで死去。作品はニューヨーク近代美術館やパリのポンピドゥー・センターに展示されています。
