    中畑艸人 1912年～1999年当初は水彩画を製作し帝展、新文展などに出品していたが、1938年に上京して硲伊之助に洋画の技法を師事し、翌年より一水会展に出品を重ねる。
    1946年一水会会員となり1953年には会員優賞を受賞1955年日展にて特選を受賞。
    そのほかホースアーティストオブザワールド(ロンドン)に招待出品、各地での個展多数開催。
    1938年以降は洋画の風景画や労働者の群集などをモチーフに制作していたが、戦後、競馬場で躍動する馬を見たのをきっかけに強い生命力を感じ、以来、主に自然を疾走する馬をモチーフとした作品を制作。JRA馬事文化賞選考委員も務めた。
