    竹久夢二 タケヒサユメジ Yumeji Takehisa

    略歴

    1884年-1934年
    岡山県邑久郡本庄村に生まれる。子どもの頃より絵に魅かれた夢二は、神戸中学に進み、エキゾチシズムの洗礼をうけ、夢二は家出をし上京、画家を志望する。父の反対で早稲田実業入学。キリスト教者や幸徳秋水ら社会学者と交わる。時に夢二十九歳。一方、生活のために絵ハガキ製作をはじめ、二十三歳の時、早稲田鶴巻町で絵ハガキ店を開いた未亡人、岸たまきと出蓬い、結ばれる。彼女をモデルとして“夢二式"美女を描き、人気作家となる。「港屋」を共に開店したたまきや、笠井彦乃らとの恋は有名である。昭和六年に渡米するが成果を上げられず昭和八年、病で帰国。昭和9年「ありがとう」の言葉を最期に永眠。夢二の墓には、有島生馬の筆になる碑文「竹久夢二を埋む」が彫られている
