    渓澗秋耀

    日本の自然美に自らの心象を託し、他の追随を許さぬ
    風景画の世界を確立した奥田元宋。
    とりわけ、峻厳な山岳などを赤色系の岩絵具を幾重にも
    塗り重ねて描くいわゆる「元宋の赤」は、その芸術を
    特徴づけるものとして名高い。

    秋の渓流をモチーフにした奥入瀬の大作。
    『渓澗春耀』と共に、広島の県立病院に飾られた陶板画の
    原作として制作されました。
    元宋画伯の円熟期に描かれた貴重な作品をぜひお手元に。

    1963第19回日本芸術院賞を受賞
    1973日本芸術院会員となる
    1977日展理事長に就任
    1981宮中歌会始の召人に選出される
    1984文化勲章を受章
    1989広島県名誉県民となる
    1992『秋耀白雪』を制作
    1995日本芸術院第一部の部長に就任
    1996慈照寺(銀閣寺)に三十面を超える障壁画を完成させる
    2000『米寿記念奥田元宋・小由女二人展』を開催
    2002『卒寿記念奥田元宋展』を開催
    2006広島県三次市に奥田元宋・小由女美術館開館
