    ＜深谷徹略歴＞
    大正2(1913)年11月22日群馬県前橋市に生まれる。
    昭和8年群馬師範学校を卒業し教職に就いたが、その後上京し日本大学へ進み、
    同15年中退し再度郷里で教職についた。
    戦後再上京し、同28年渡仏、翌年までパリでグラン・ショミエールへ通い、
    同29年からはスペインへ転じマドリッド美術学校でフレスコ画を修め、翌30年帰国した。
    創元会展、日展に出品し、同27年の日展に「とりかごのある静物」で特選となった他、
    日仏具象派協会を結成し同31年第1回展を開催、また同年国際具象派協会展に参加した。
    同40年の日展出品作「集落」で日展菊華賞を受賞。風景画、静物画をよくし、
    晩年は郷里の風景をモチーフに多く描いた。
