    作家名：池田 満寿夫

    作家履歴
    池田満寿夫（Masuo Ikeda, 1934-1997）は国際的版画家、画家、彫刻家、陶芸家、芥川賞作家
    エッセイスト映画監督など多彩な顔を持つアーティストです。

    1934年旧満洲国奉天（現・瀋陽）生まれ。1945年、終戦によって母と郷里の長野市に引き揚げました。
    高校卒業後の1952年に上京し、辛苦のすえ、版画家としてデビュー。

    1960年、1962年、1964年の東京国際版画ビエンナーレ展連続受賞につづき
    1965年にニューヨーク近代美術館で日本人初の個展開催、1966年の第33回ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ
    では版画部門の国際大賞を受賞。
    一躍、世界のスターへの道が開かれました。しかしその評価に甘んじることなく、
    つねに自己変革による自由な変貌をくりかえしました。

    その後も、池田満寿夫は日本を代表する版画家として東京とニューヨークを拠点に制作をつづけるかたわら
    1977年には芥川賞を受賞。
    小説家としても活躍しました。帰国後は、熱海市に居を構え、作陶から立体造形への関心を深めるなど表現の幅を広げます。

    その旺盛な制作活動のさなか、1997年3月8日に63歳で逝去。4月18日に池田満寿夫美術館開館。
    没後も追悼展や大規模な回顧展がたびたび開かれています。
    時代を駆けぬけた池田満寿夫の作品群は今後も人びとを魅了するでしょう。
