    この作品の最大の特徴は単純な墨色の使用で山の雰囲気と日光を見事に描写して、
    人々の前に広がるのは冬の寒々しい景色ですが木々はまだ芽吹いていないものの、
    大地はすでに復活し始めています。
    細く痩せた木の影の間には濃い霧が浮かび山谷に広がっています。
    この画面は早春に訪れた山中の景色を描いています。
    全景を通じて遠景、中景、近景が組み合わさっており北方の高山と
    深い谷の壮大な雰囲気が表現されています遠くの山々は高くそびえ力強さを感じさせます。
    近くの丸い丘が重なり岩石が突き出しています。
    橋や建物は山間の木々に隠れています。
    水辺や山間で活動する人々がこの絵に無限の生命力を与えています。
    画面内の山や石にはさまざまな姿勢の木々が描かれています。
    柔軟な筆使いで木の幹が表現され多くの木には鷲の爪や蟹の爪のような小さな枝があります。
    山と石は墨で描かれた抑揚のある線と太さの変化によって描かれており、
    自由な筆致で干湿や濃淡の効果が表現されています。
    全体的に力強く洗練された筆使いが用いられ筆法は生き生きと変化に富んでおり、
    深みと遠近感を同時に感じさせます。
    この絵は郭熙の代表作であり現在台北の故宮博物院に所蔵されています。
    画の左側には「早春、壬子年郭熙筆」という署名があり、
    「郭熙筆」という長方形の印も押されています。
