    夜明けのローマの女神であるオーロラは、朝の輝くドアを大きく開け放ち、足元に捨てられたバラが彼女の尽きることのない情熱を隠しています。
    ビクトリア朝の感性は、ドレーパーの非常に性的な人物を、当時の人気モデルであるフローリー・バードとして簡単に識別されたため、混乱を招きました。ドレーパーの大部分の裸の女性像は、当時の芸術界では人気がありませんでしたが、彼の技術は現代でも認められています。

    【ハーバート・ジェームズ・ドレイパー】
    イギリス出身の古典主義の画家。ビクトリア朝時代に、想像力豊かな主題と同時代の人々の肖像画を描きました。
    ドレーパーはロンドンのロイヤル アカデミーで芸術を学び、フランス、イタリア、スペイン、モロッコ、ベルギー、オランダへの教育旅行に何度も参加しました。ロイヤルアカデミーに出展した後、ドレーパーは当時非常に人気のある画家になりました。

    1890 年代、ドレーパーは多産な画家であり、主に古代ギリシャ神話のテーマに焦点を当てていました。ドレーパーの神話へのオマージュである『イカロスの嘆き』は、シャントリー遺贈によりロイヤル・アカデミー展で購入され、パリ万博では金賞を受賞しています。同じ頃、ドレイパーズ・ホールの天井に壁画を描くという大きな依頼を受けていた。
