    アメリカを代表する現代写真家で、荒木経惟との共著でも有名なゴールディン。
    10代の時に姉を亡くしたことをきっかけに写真を撮り始め、家族、恋人、友人との日常・交友関係を、自らの日記を綴るように親密な視点でカメラに収めていきます。

    特に、ドラッグ、バイオレンス、セックス等80年代の多様なサブカルチャーをストレートに表現した作品でまとめられた本書「性的依存のバラード」は、大きな反発と反響を呼び、ゴールディンの名を世界に轟かせました。

    女性らしい鮮やかなカラー配色と親密な視点をもって撮られたゴールディンの写真は、その時代を象徴する鏡であると同時に、自らがリアルに感じた友情、愛情、喜び、悲しみが濃密に表現された詩的なバラードでもあります。
