    ★明治文学界にあって「田山花袋」、「上田敏」、「島崎藤村」らと共に多くの作品を残した埼玉最初の近代詩人太田玉茗。その出自は、行田市(当時忍町)に生まれ、その後羽生市（羽生町）で建福寺住職の養子となるなど、埼玉県北部にゆかりある文学者として、作品にも風土性のあるものも多い。本書では太田玉茗の文藝の足跡を、原典により近いものから探り、その資料性を確かなものとし、この文学者を追及するための必須の書としている。他にも、交友のあった田山花袋作品のうち四十一作品は太田玉茗と羽生市が登場するものがあり、その作品らも丁寧に追う。
