    ★東日本大震災の大津波が石巻市渡波の宮城県慶長使節船ミュージアムに係留されている復元船サン・ファン・バウティスタ号を襲った。サン・ファン号は船体を前後左右に激しく揺らしながら大波に耐えた。舳先は真東に向けられ、その姿はまるで、大海に挑むようだったという。 支倉常長らを乗せたサン・ファン号が月浦を出帆してから、来年2013年10月28日で400年となる。著者は元仙台市博物館長で、慶長使節の研究に長年携わってきた濱田直嗣さん。 慶長使節というと常長が表面に出るが、その背後には常に藩主伊達政宗がいた─と,濱田さんは指摘。常長が寡黙に,敬虔に進んだのは主君がともにいることを認識してのことだったと思うと述べる.ところで、使節派遣の２年前には慶長大津波が三陸一帯を襲っている。この混乱を乗り越え、慶長使節という大事業は成し遂げられた。彼らの時代から400年の時を経て、東日本大震災に遭遇した。私たちも希望と勇気をもって困難を乗り越えようとしている今こそ、慶長使節に学ぶ意義があると、濱田さんは訴えている。
