    バウハウス出身の建築家・工業デザイナーのマックス・ビル（1908-1994）。
    1953年から1968年までの僅か15年間の活動期間でありながら、バウハウスの後継としてデザイン界に大きな影響を及ぼしたウルム造形大学（Hochschule fur gestaltung ulm）の初代校長に就任し、デザインと芸術の統合といったバウハウスの教育理念を継承しようと尽力しました。
    本書は、初期から1970年代までの色彩、構図からなる絵画作品と、パピリオン、彫刻などの立体作品を中心に約150点収録した作品集。巻末に年譜、作品リストも掲載。貴重な英語版。
