    1959年録音1960年発売のモノラル作品「黒い足音」でラジオ東京（現TBS）効果団によるSEと無名俳優のセリフとコーラス入り。「足音」のセリフとコーラスは水島早苗門下の研究生だった歌手の卵たちだったのかもしれないが、彼らも含めてレコーディング参加者は不明。ギャラの支払いのための帳簿類を発掘しないかぎりは判らないようである。ちなみにラジオ東京効果団は当時企画ものソノシートにも結構駆り出されている。

    日本探偵作家クラブ（現推理作家協会）の監修の下、作詞家の井田誠一がコンセプトを担当。時代的には戦前的な「探偵小説」の時代から戦後的な「ミステリー」の時代に移ろうという時期だが、あいかわらず怪奇小説も含有する探偵小説のイメージに沿ったこのアルバムのコンセプトを江戸川乱歩が本音ではどう感じていたのかが気になるところだ。

    「足音」の心臓の鼓動音で始まりかつ終わる構成がつい柴田南雄の「立体放送のためのミュージック・コンクレート」を思い出させ、そこから更に中川信夫の映画「地獄」のための音楽で渡辺宙明がミュージック・コンクレートを導入していたことも思い出し・・・と言っても影響関係云々では無い。それらに同時代的共通項というようなものが存在することが面白いと思うのだ。影響関係の有無という点で気になるのが「黒猫」にある「鳥葬」という曲で、弦楽器のアンサンブルがハリー・パーチっぽい。当時ヤマタケがハリー・パーチを聴いていたかどうかは不明（ムーンドッグなら聴いていてもおかしくはないが）だが、もしも影響を受けていたら？それは戦後音楽史に再考を迫るミステリーではないだろうか。
