    1924年「東京スタンダード靴株式会社」として後に運輸大臣になる宮澤胤勇によって創業される。1927年に野村合名会社（後の野村ホールディングス）の援助を受け野村傘下に入る。1928年6月より商号を「スタンダード靴株式会社」と改称。終戦後の1946年2月にスタンダード靴株式会社に再び社名を戻す。
    当時のスタンダード靴株式会社のライセンスブランドは「DAKS」「ヒロミチナカノ」「メンズビギ」プライベートブランドの「Excel」そして最も人気があったこの「スタンデューク」である。その後スタンダード靴（株）は民事再生法を適用したが、職人魂は復活し現在創業中である。
    昭和の5大紳士靴メーカーと言えば、日本製靴（現在のリーガル）、アジア製靴（現在のマドラス）、大塚製靴（株）、ユニオンロイヤル（現在のユニオンインペリアル）、そしてこのスタンダード靴（株）でありました。メルカリでは初登場です！
