    吉田博の作『瀬戸内海集　帆船　朝』です。龍香堂と親交の有る版画研究室から買い取りました。モダン浮世絵の巨匠「吉田博」の描いた見事な美を手摺木版で忠実に復刻した作品です。

    ◎当品は和紙１枚の状態です。額飾しておりません。

    ※画像４は版木の一部と裏面の画像です。版画用染料が裏写りしているのは、印刷ではないことの証しです。

    【作品解説】瀬戸内海集「帆船　朝」（せとないかいしゅう「はんせん　あさ」）：大正15年（1926）作。瀬戸内の海景を描いた連作「瀬戸内海集『帆船』」シリーズの一点。一つのモチーフを同じ版木を用い、色彩を替えて別摺する事で、刻々と変化する時間や大気を表現したのが連作「帆船」シリーズである。その種類は「朝」「午前」「午後」「霧」「夕」「夜」がある。

    ●背後からの朝日を受け、浮かんでいる帆船。その帆は朝のぼんやりした光に透け、水面には船影と共に複雑なゆらぎが現われている。木版画であるにも関わらず、その場の光や空気、暖かさなどもまるで洋画の様に繊細な色彩で見事に表現され、神秘的とも感じられる。

    ●吉田博（よしだ　ひろし）：明治・大正・昭和にわたり、洋画家・版画家として日本の自然と詩情を写実的に表現した作風の第一人者。
    1876年（明治9年）久留米市に生まれる。当初は洋画家に師事し水彩画で才能を表すも、1920年、新版画の版元渡辺庄三郎と出会い、版画家の道を歩み始める。後に版画スタジオを創設し、独自の木版画制作を開始。過去三度にわたる渡米と欧州歴訪を経て、その絶景を洋画の技法に取り入れた独自の版画の作風は、日本のみならず、欧州、東南アジアなどの世界を雄大にリアルに詩情豊かに表現した。生涯にわたり自然風景を描き続けた吉田の作品は、現在も世界的に高評価を得ている。
