    野坂康起

    萩焼は、萩藩主毛利家の御用窯として開窯されたのを起源としてその技術は今日まで連綿として受け継がれている。
    　野坂(旧姓小田)康起は、昭和6年(1931)三重県で生まれ、同県や岐阜県で修行を重ね、志野・瀬戸黒の人間国宝荒川豊蔵に師事し作陶に専念した。昭和33年(1958)萩の野坂百一の婿養子となり、萩での作陶が始まった。

    　多種多様な土や釉そして窯にふれた経験から、東日本系の技術を熟知するとともに西日本系の技術を身につけた陶芸家として大変珍重されるべき存在となっている。とりわけ伊羅保釉と線文は、彼の独壇場といえる。

    　これら萩焼に新たな息吹を吹き込んだ実績は非常に高く評価されている。
