    札幌芸術の森は、21世紀へ向けた芸術文化都市札幌のシンボルとして昭和61年7月に一部オープンしました。
    この芸術の森は、恵まれた自然環境の中で芸術家による芸術活動の高まり、一般市民による芸術活動の参加、
    さらには、札幌独自の文化を内外へ発信することを目指しています。
    そして、20世紀に培われた札幌の文化を次の世代へ伝える目的の下に3期15年計画で1999年7月に完成いたします。
    さらに芸術の森に隣接する札幌市立高等専門学校、アート・ヴィレッジと密接な相互協力のもとに、この札幌の
    一大芸術文化ゾーンが北方の芸術文化をリードしていく役割を担ってまいります。（1998.3）
