【精霊流し】
盆の終わりの15日の夕方か16日の早朝に、精霊を送り返すため、供物をわらや
木で作った舟に乗せて川や海に流す行事。
灯籠(とうろう)を流すこともある。しょうろながし。

お盆は仏教の行事で、正確には（盂蘭盆会）（うらぼんえ）といいます。
起源は、我鬼道（がきどう）に落ちて苦しむ母を救いたいと相談する弟子に
（夏の修行が終わった 七月十五日に僧侶を招き、多くの供物をささげて供養
すれば、母を救う事が出来るであろう）と教え、 極楽浄土へと導いた釈迦
の故事から。
日本では、推古天皇の時代（六〇六年）に、初めてお盆の行事が行われたと
伝えられています。
以来、旧暦の七月十五日は、父母や先祖に感謝をささげ、供養をつむ重要な
日となったのです。
