    高橋泥舟 （天保６年（１８３５）～明治３６年（１９０３））
    江戸において、旗本山岡正業の次男として生まれる。妹・英子は山岡鉄舟の妻。母方の高橋包承の養子となる生家の山岡家は槍の自得院流（忍心流）の名家で、長兄高橋静山に就いて槍を修行、神業と謳われるほどの評判を得るまでになる。安政３年、２２歳で講武所槍術教授。万延元年、同槍術師範となり、文久３年、上洛中の将軍家茂から浪士取扱を親諭され、勅許を奉じて従五位下に叙せられ、伊勢守を称する。慶応２年新設の遊撃隊の頭取。鳥羽伏見の敗戦後、帰東、謹慎する慶喜を警護にあたる。勝海舟が西郷隆盛との会談に際し、使者として泥舟を選ぶが、主君慶喜の身を案じ、それを辞退し、義弟山岡鉄舟の駿府派遣を提案した。廃藩置県後は、徳川家が静岡に移住するのに従い、地方奉行など勤め、東京に隠棲して書を楽しむなどの余世を送った。幕末三舟の一人と称される。
