作家説明	■林 倭衛は、大正から昭和にかけての日本の洋画家。浦和画家。-  明治28年（1895）小県郡上田町（現上田市）に生まれる。幼少期に家の没落と一家離散を経験。15歳で上京し、印刷会社で働きながら夜学で絵画を学んだ。  画家を志した青年時代からアナーキストや社会主義者と深い交友関係にあり、その一方で画才を発揮している。倭衛の画風は一時セザンヌに接近したことから、 セザンヌ風となった。昭和20年（1945）、積年の酒癖がたたり無念の死を迎えた。享年49歳。異端の天才。詩人、小説家、ジャーナリストなど多くの人びとか ら愛され、そ の死がおしまれた。詩的で清明な色彩の作品を多く残したが、死後3ヶ月足らずで東京大空襲のため約50点の晩年作が灰塵に帰した。
