    ・作家略歴
    具体美術は、日本の戦後前衛芸術といえばGUTAIといわれ、近年では世界的に評価されています。

    具体美術会員の堀尾貞治は1939(昭和14)年に神戸市兵庫区に生まれました。美術教師との出会いや民芸運動に尽力した叔父の影響により、15歳の時に一生美術をやりつづけると決心しますが、家庭の事情により美術学校へは進めず、中学卒業後は三菱重工神戸造船所へ入社。1998（平成10）年に定年を迎えるまで、仕事と創作活動を両立させ、これまで多い時には年間100回以上という超人的なペースで、個展やグループ展、パフォーマンスなどを行ってきました。具体美術協会には1965（昭和40）年に初出品し、翌年から1972（昭和47）年の解散時まで在籍。1985年（昭和60年）頃より、目に見えない「空気」という存在を「あたりまえのこと」と表現し、行動的な制作から生み出す「空気」を可視化するための様々な試みをつづけています。

    具体第三世代（1966-72年まで具体美術会員）を代表する堀尾貞治。堀尾の創作の本質は継続することにあり、不可欠な「空気」のような存在としてあります。描くこと、色を塗ること、ものを組み立てるといった行為は、生きるために人が呼吸するように「あたりまえ」の営み＝純粋芸術として色褪せることなく生き続けていくのだと思います。
