    ・作家略歴
    具体美術協会（GUTAI）は日本の戦後美術を語る上で、最も重要なアート・ムーブメントとして世界的に評価されています。
    具体美術の創立メンバーの一人である上前智祐は1920年京都に生まれる。1947年黒田重太郎に師事したのち、1952年吉原治良に師事し、1954年具体美術協会の結成に参加。一貫して非具象(抽象)を追及した作品を作り続け、おがくずやマッチを使用し何層にも重ねた非具象を旨とした作品は、平面のみならず立体的な作品から布や糸を使った縫い作品、シルクスクリーンや銅版画などにわたります。幅広い創作と真面目な手仕事の積み重ねから生み出される作品は、物質としての存在感のみで自立できる説明不要な素晴らしい作品でした。惜しまれつつも2018年4月16日に老衰のため死去（享年97歳）されました。具体美術協会の主要メンバーとして美術史の中に永遠に残る作家の一人あると思います。
    本作品は、おがくずを油彩とともに何層にも重ねた上前の代表作の一つです。ぜひこの機会にどうぞ。
