    Cheese Dishes have become much collected in recent years but collectors and 
    dealers have found great difficulty in obtaining information about these varied and 
    interesting pieces, since no single source of reference has been available.
    This book, the first on the subject, seeks to fill that gap.
    The author's research has resulted in a fascinating story of the development of cheese dishes 
    throughout two centuries, together with the factors which have influenced their design, shape and popularity.
    The subject is covred thoroughly, from early wooden cheese stands to the first ceramic dishes by Wedgwood and Spode.
    The latter were chiefly nineteenth century Stilton cheese stands using many kinds fo decorative techniques -
    embossed, jasper, inlaid, printed, jetware and terracotta, majolica.
