    河鍋暁斎
    幕末-明治時代の日本画家。
    天保(てんぽう)2年4月7日生まれ。歌川国芳に入門,のち狩野派の前村洞和,狩野洞白にまなぶ。明治14年内国勧業博覧会で「枯木寒鴉」が受賞。狩野派に浮世絵風をまじえた画風を特色とした。明治22年4月26日死去。59歳。下総(しもうさ)古河(茨城県)出身。名は洞郁。字(あざな)は陳之。通称は周三郎。別号に周麿,狂斎。作品に「暁斎漫画」「地獄極楽図」。
