    【展覧会概要】


    森村泰昌は、美術史の中の名画の登場人物に自ら扮装、コンピュータで自らの顔や身体を名画の中に合成する作品や、
    一連の女優シリーズでよく知られています。それらは性差や国家のボーダレス化が著しい現代における自画像表現として、
    また写真表現を手段に取り込んだ作品として、1980年代後半以降の日本の現代美術を語る上で欠かせない存在となり、
    また国際的にも高い評価を集めてきました。国内ではすでに原美術館（「レンブラントの部屋」1994年）、
    横浜美術館（女優シリーズ、1996年）で個展が開催されています。


    今回は森村初の本格的な回顧展として、彼の10年をこえる活動をその「美術史シリーズ」にしぼり、
    東京都現代美術館の広大な空間に展開します。この展覧会では、1985年に制作され一躍注目を集めた「肖像（ゴッホ）」から
    最新作まで80点をこえる作品を一堂に会して森村の活動をたどると同時に、
    各作品が準拠したルネサンスから1990年代に至る美術の流れを二重に提示することを目指します。

    展覧会タイトル「空想美術館」は、フランスのアンドレ・マルローが提唱した古今東西の名作による「空想美術館（ミュゼ・イマジネール）」に、
    「美術を着る」「装う」という森村のコンセプトを反映させたものです。
    会場では森村が愛する名画と一体化した作品を見た後に、観客が自ら名画の主人公を実際に体験できる、
    「モリムラ版プリクラマシーン」も登場します。
