    【状態】諱・花押切取、痛み、焼け、19.4×111.8㎝
    松平大和守の書状だが、諱と花押が書かれていた箇所が切り取られている。
    松平大和守家は、徳川家康の次男・結城秀康を祖とする家で、川越藩、前橋藩などを領した。
    宛所の細川熊次郎は、肥後宇土藩の細川有孝、細川興生などの可能性が考えられるが、確定はできない。
    時代が不明のため、松平大和守の諱も未詳。

    公方様益御機嫌能被成
    御座、恐悦至奉存候、貴様
    弥可為御堅固、珍重之
    御事候、然者、拙者今度
    首尾好被下御暇、難有
    仕合奉存候、今日在所

    御老中迄以使者
    申上候間、如此御座候、恐惶

    【現代語訳】
    一筆お手紙を申し上げます。将軍様はますますご機嫌がよろしくなられ、恐悦の至りに存じます。あなたはますますご健康でおられ、おめでたいことです。つきましては、私は今度、首尾よく将軍様から御暇をいただき、ありがたき幸せに存じます。今日、居城に到着しました。よって、ごあいさつのため、御老中まで使者を送って申し上げますので、以上の通りでございます。恐惶謹言。
