    ■商品説明■

    洋画家　木村荘八（1893年ー1958年）
    ペン画　『二人武蔵』です。

    木村荘八は1893年（明治26年）、
    有名牛鍋チェーン店のいろは牛肉店の創立者である木村荘平の八男として東京市日本橋区に生まれました。
    中学校卒業後、店の帳場を任されながらも画家を志し、白馬会洋画研究所に学び、岸田劉生とフュウザン会・草土社を結成、
    のち春陽会創立会員となります。
    後期印象派等の新美術の紹介に努め、岸田劉生とともに大正・昭和初期画壇で活躍しました。

    また挿絵画家、随筆家、版画家としても知られ、特に挿絵においては、
    1937年の永井荷風の代表作『ぼく東綺譚』の他、
    『たけくらべ絵巻』『にごりえ』『霧笛』等のすぐれた作品を残し、高い評価を得ています。

    こちらの作品は、芥川賞作家　五味康祐の剣豪小説
    『二人の武蔵』の挿絵作品です。

    軽妙、洒脱な筆致で描き出す独自の画風、情景や人物の心情までもが滲み出てくるような
    情感あふれる木村荘八の挿絵の世界が堪能できます。
    東京の下町で生まれ育った彼ならではの深い情趣が感じられる作風は、人々の心に深い味わいを残します。

    作品左下にサイン、額裏に木村東介鑑定シールがございます。
    紙の挿箱付き。
