    悪魔的な幻想の世界を描くプロコフィエフ異色のオペラ「炎の天使」。
    エロティックでセンセーショナルな演出と完成度の高さでオペラ界に衝撃をあたえた《炎の天使》。
    1920年代に完成していたにも関わらず、その過激なオカルティズムと性描写に対する忌避感からか、この作品の初演（フェニーチェ歌劇場）は作曲家の死後、1955年まで待たねばならなりませんでした。
    しかし、この作品を深く愛した作曲家は生前、交響曲第3番に大胆にその音楽を引用しています。
    本上演に際し、イタリアの気鋭の演出家エマ・ダンテは「幻想的なリアリズム、終わりのない悪夢、狂気、性的な衝動と文化の衝突の目くるめく融合」をこの作品に読み込み、たびたび登場する悪魔のブレイクダンスに象徴される滑稽な不気味さと静謐さが併存するユニークな舞台を創り上げました。主役のリー・メルローズとエヴァ・ヴェシンを始めとした充実した歌手陣と、アルゼンチン出身のオペラ指揮者として高い評価を受けるアレホ・ペレスに導かれたローマ歌劇場のオーケストラが、このプロコフィエフの傑作を見事に描き出しています。（輸入元情報）
