    中世の時代に制作されたオリジナルの骨董品ではなく、あくまで現代品のリプロです。

    鬼面紋瓦當 呉晋南朝時代の蓮花紋と同じ鬼面紋が瓦當の中心の模様として流行しはじめました。
    ホウィナオ教授は鬼面紋瓦當が呉国中期ごろに制作が始まり、 南朝まで継続使用されたとみてます。
    この模様に対して中国では獣面と呼び、日本では鬼面紋と言われてます。 韓国ではオバケ紋としても呼ばれてます。
    鬼面紋瓦當は蓮花紋瓦當のあとに沢山出土します。
    私も雲紋とか人面紋に比べ鬼面紋瓦當をかなりたくさん収集しました。
    鬼面紋の源流は何か？ 呉晋南朝の鬼面紋をたどりながら、この鬼面紋模様は、どのように人面紋が変化したものかもしれない、と考えてしまいます。

    鬼面紋の中には人面紋とかなり似ているのを発見できます。
    人面紋が呉晋時代に制作を始めると、人面紋は徐々に鬼面紋に変化し、蓮花紋と同じく、 続けて使用されてきたかもしれません。
    呉晋南朝と魏晋北朝で、鬼面紋が蓮花紋と似た時期に、同時に出現し、流行したのも関心を引きます。
    鬼面紋は元来、集権者の象徴に使用したと解釈されてきました。 支配階級が住んでいる建築物を誇示する権威の象徴というものです。
    しかし、鬼面紋と蓮花紋のように仏教と特別な関連があることも判明してます。 鬼面紋のように仏教と特別な関連があることもあります。
    鬼面紋は邪鬼の意味もあるため、四天王像のような私的なことを追い出す 佛法の修好者として蓮花紋と同じく使用されたかもしれません。
