    話題のAVANT MAGAZINEの新作が登場！フランスで有名なヴィンテージコレクター : Eric Maggiori氏が、長年貯め続けたコレクションや様々なディーラーのインタビューを掲載した著書 : AVANT(アヴァント)の新刊が入荷！

    エリック氏のコレクションや友人のコレクションなど、主に1800年代後半〜1940年代ごろの、滅多に目にする事のできない様なレアなヴィンテージ アイテムを纏めた歴史的な写真や資料を掲載しております。

    今回VOL.6として、待望のリリースとなった新刊はアメリカの老舗ファブリックメーカー : J.L. Stifel Co.(スティフェル/シュティフェル社)の特集です。

    STIFEL社は非常に歴史も古く、ドイツで生まれたJ.L. Stifel（ヨハン・ルードウィッヒ・シュティフェル）氏がアメリカに移民として渡り、1835年にウエストヴァージニア州ウィーリングにて創業した歴史ある生地メーカーです。縦横共にインディゴ染めされた糸で織られた生地に白いドットがストライプ状にプリントされた生地 : 通称ウォバッシュ生地を生み出し、当時シアーズやモンゴメリーワードなどのあらゆるワークウェアメーカーで使用されていたとされています。

    二度の大戦時には、軍需工場として軍納入品を生産。1943年、テキスタイル業界初のArmy-Navy E Production Awardという、軍需にあたり高い貢献を示した企業に贈られる賞を獲得していますが、1957年に綿需要の低下など様々な理由で生地メーカーとしての歴史に幕を閉じます。

    表紙の独特なアートワークは、Eric氏の兄であり画家でもある : Mark Maggiori氏が手がけているそうです。

    表記は全て英語となりますが、大変見ごたえのある内容と、飾りとしても秀逸なアートワーク本としてもオススメです。
