    26歳で渡仏、絵を燃やして暖をとる貧しい修業生活を経て、神秘的な「乳白色の肌」の裸婦像が絶賛を浴びる“エコール・ド・パリ”時代の栄光。

    一方故国日本では絵の正当な評価を得られぬ煩悶と失意から、やがてフランスに帰化、異郷に没した藤田。

    厚いベールに包まれた画家の芸術と人生を明かす作品。

    藤田 嗣治（ふじた つぐはる、1886年11月27日 - 1968年1月29日）は、日本生まれのフランスの画家・彫刻家。

    フランスに帰化後の洗礼名はレオナール・ツグハル・フジタ（Lonard Tsugouharu Foujita、レオナール・フジタとも）。

    第一次世界大戦前よりフランスのパリで活動、猫と女性を得意な画題とし、日本画の技法を油彩画に取り入れつつ、独自の「乳白色の肌」とよばれた裸婦像などは西洋画壇の絶賛を浴びました。

    エコール・ド・パリの代表的な画家です。
