    スーパーに変身できる地無し、できない地無し
    尺八という楽器の研究が進みどこをどうすれば「良く鳴る」ようになるか次第に明らかになってきています。まず内径については歌口から管端に向かってだんだん細くなり第１孔の下あたりが一番細く、そこから再び太くなるのが「鳴る楽器」の共通点で、これは「理想内径曲線」と呼ばれています。この形で作られていると筒音も充実し甲乙音のオクターブバランスもよくなります。地無し尺八は節の突起が残っているので理想的ななめらかな曲線にはならないのですが、全体として「理想内径曲線」に近いと良く鳴る楽器となります。素の状態で乙ロで手応えのある音がする地無し管でないと、改造しても良い結果にはなりません。今回の「秋月」はその基準をクリアしたものです。こんな音がします。https://youtu.be/4B6R4qjBBKg

    歌口・指孔・調律
    「秋月」は元から良い音色の楽器でしたが「もっと音量が欲しい」というのが正直なところでした。銘のある尺八を改造することについてはいろいろ議論もあろうかと思いますが、楽器の能力を最大限引き出す作業はREIZANの最大の楽しみでもあります。思ったように自由自在に表現できるのが楽器の楽しさです。今回も例によって歌口を「泉州スタイル」にして指孔は調律しながら12mmまで大きくしました。今回は調律を現代風にせず「ツが低め」「チが高め」「ヒがやや高め」の伝統調律にしています。伝統調律の最大のメリットは「チのカリ」が使えることにあります。音色の選択幅が大きいことは伝統調律の魅力の一つです。

    初代琴古管にあこがれて
    Youtuberのこんちゃん宅で「初代黒沢琴古管」を吹かせてもらったことがあります。達人が伝承してきた竹は持っただけで「これは鳴る」と思わせる存在感がありました。歌口の形状は意外にも現代尺八に通じるところがありそっと息を入れるだけですぐに音が出せて息の力加減にリニアに反応します。音色はあまく芳醇で一度吹いたら病みつきになること間違いなしです。それ以来ずっと「あれに近い尺八はできないかな」とあこがています。今回の尺八はその初代琴古管には及びませんが、85点ぐらいの出来えはないかと自画自賛しています。
