    マイカは「雲母石(きららいし)」という和名を持った天然石です。非常に希少価値が高く、市場に出回る事も少ない為、珍しい石とも言われます。
    古代から『不老長寿に効果がある』という噂の元で、多くの人を魅了して止まなかった歴史をも持っています。中国ではその昔、あらゆる病気の治療に用いられており別名『命の石』と呼ばれたいました。石が病を治すとして、石薬としての歴史を持っているのがこの雲母石でもあります。
    この石の名前の由来は、フランス語の『mica＝意味：輝く』からきています。輝きが浮かび上がり、とても幻想的です。この輝きは希望の象徴とも言われてきました。
    マイカというのは、、カリウムを主成分とした珪酸塩鉱物グループの総称の事を指します。
    マイカはモース硬度2.5-3と非常にもろい鉱物で、結晶も「層」のように重なり生まれている為、薄くはがれていくような変質が見 られることがあります。
    それが光の角度によって幻想的なツヤ・輝きを生み出して、何とも言えない美しさで見る人を魅了してくれるのでしょう。
