    別名 千手千眼観自在菩薩（せんじゅせんげんかんじざいぼさつ）とも言い、生きとし生けるものすべてを漏らさず救う、大いなる慈悲を表現する菩薩です

    千の手と手のひらの千の眼によって悩み苦しむ衆生を見つけては手を差し伸べる広大無限な功徳と慈悲から「大悲観音」と呼ばれ

    また観音の中でも功徳が大きく、観音の中の王という意味で「蓮華王」と呼ばれることもあります

    阿修羅や金剛力士などの二十八部衆を配下にしています

    手には宝剣、髑髏杖、水瓶など実に様々な持物（じもつ）を持ち、多種多様な徳を表しています
