    前田政雄（まえだまさお）1904－1974年
    1904年(明治37)、北海道函館市に生まれる。1924年(大正13)、上京し、川端画学校洋画科に学ぶ。梅原龍三郎に油絵を、平塚運一に版画を学ぶ。1927年(昭和2)、日本創作版画協会展に初入選する。同年、版画同人誌『版』を創刊する。1931年(昭和6)、日本版画協会設立にともない同会会友として出品、翌年同会会員となる。1938年(昭和13)、新文展に初入選する。1939年(昭和14)、恩地孝四郎の主宰する「一木会」に常連として参加する。1944年(昭和19)、国画会会員となる。同年、東京で初めての個展を開催する。戦前、北海道内では少なかった版画家の代表者の一人として、一貫して風景をテーマに北海道美術協会展(道展)に出品、また戦後は、全道美術協会(全道展)の会員として、また北海道版画協会の結成に参加するなど北海道の版画の振興に尽力した。1974年(昭和49)、死去。2006年(平成17)、北海道立函館美術館で「前田政雄展 知られざる画業の全貌」が開催された。（出典：練馬区立美術館）
