    称号：神の御前のプリンス、慈悲の天使、正義の天使、聖別の天使
    直訳：神に似たるものは誰か
    四大元素、色、方位：火、赤、南
    西洋占星術：水星（水星は黄なので黄も◎）

    甲冑をまとって天の軍団の先頭をいくイメージが一般的とされ、背には翼が広がっているものが多い。
    また燃える剣を手にした姿で描かれることも多く、右手に剣、左手に秤を持つことから、武器と秤を扱う職業の守護者とされた。

    中世においてはミカエルは兵士の守り手、キリスト教軍の守護者となり、十字軍兵士の崇敬を集めた。
    現代のカトリック教会では、兵士、警官、消防官、救急隊員の守護聖人になっている。
    ちなみに地域ではドイツおよびウクライナ、フランスの守護聖人とされている。

    また神の意思を遂行するミカエルの重要な任務の一つに、死者を冥界に導く役割があり、死者が天国に行けるか、地獄に落ちるか判決を下すのがミカエルとされている。
    「最後の審判」の中でキリストの足元に立ち、死者の魂を量りにかけて天国行きか、地獄行きかを決めるミカエルの姿がしばしば描かれている。
