    本書は、うたごえバス、フォーク酒場、コミュニティ・ラジオ、映画音楽サークルを訪ね歩き、人生の実りの時を迎えた「ふつうの中高年」への質的調査を通じ、聴覚の個人史と文化的記憶が交わる想起のかたちを明らかにしたフィールドワークである。時間と空間を行き来する想起を「メモリースケープ」という概念で読み解くことで、従来のサウンドスケープ研究を批判的に乗り越え、聴覚文化研究の新しい次元を示す。メディアが画一化してきたノスタルジアへの反証として多様な想起のあり方を提示しながら、高齢化の進行で勢いづくノスタルジア市場に回収されることのない、「住まわれた記憶」が拓くパースペクティヴが立ちあらわれる
