    1977年から85年までデュッセルドルフ芸術アカデミーでベルント&ヒラ・ベッヒャー夫妻のもとで写真を学び、特にこのシリーズ、友人たちの肖像を巨大なサイズに引き伸ばした「Portrts(ポートレート)」で大きな注目を集めました。

    現代ドイツを代表する写真家として活躍しています。

    奈良美智さんもルフを伝説的な存在だったと語っております。

    作品は1990年に名古屋の現代美術ギャラリー、コウジオグラギャラリーで開催された「トーマス・ルフ展」で使用されたプレス用の写真作品になります。
