     ■経歴

    1956年、カリフォルニア州メンドシノの 浜辺の町で生まれる。
    4歳の頃から、既に絵画に親しむほど、 幼少の頃から才能に恵まれていました。
    10歳の時、家族とハワイに移住し、 オアフ、マウイ、ハワイ島を 転々とした後、
    マウイに定住しました。 彼が、ここで見た海のリズムを奏でる 大波と四季折々の素晴らしい景色を
    展開する自然のドラマは、 少年ラッセンの心に自然界の周期的な ハーモニーを強く印象づけました。
    80年代の初め、オランダの古い技法である 「グレージング」を完成させることによって、
    様々な海洋の変化を適切に描写できる 技術を向上していきます。
    1つ１つの層を乾かす時間が必要になるので、 とても時間がかかる作業です。
    ラッセンはこの技法を海の景色、夕日、日の出、 夜の海等の作品に使用しています。
    この様式によって、絵の中の異なった面と距離の 間に光を反射させることが可能になります。
    サーフフィンに対しての情熱と共に、 海を主題にした作品に、 彼の才能の全てを注ぎ込んでいる。
    彼はこれを波の動き、礁の構造、海洋生物の 動きを通し絵の中で伝えています。
