    インドネシア・NTT（東ヌサトゥンガラ）州サヴ島の総手紡ぎ総自然色イカット(I)
    バリ島のずっと東、小スンダ列島の一角に浮かぶサヴ(Savu)島は、インドネシア最南端のロテ島の西方に位置します。1万7千を数える島嶼国家インドネシアの中でも、ここを訪れる観光客は極めて少なく、まさしく“知られざる世界”の一つです。しかし、サヴ島には、近隣諸島、例えば、ロテ島、スンバ島、ティモール島、アロール島、そしてフローレス島などと比べても、優るとも劣らぬ、素晴らしいイカット（絣織り）文化が息づいています。
    経糸も緯糸も総て手紡ぎ綿糸を用いています。また染色は全て天然自然色です。筒状になっていて、サイズは、長さが約152cm、幅が約52cm。数年前に織られた新しいイカットでコンディションは良好です。
    尚、サヴ島のイカット文化については、「Ikats of Savu: Women Weaving Histrory in Eastern Indonesia」(White Lotus社、2001年刊。フランス人女性学者Genevieve Duggan著）を参照することをお奨めいたします。
