    インドネシア・NTT州（東ヌサトゥンガラ州）アロール島の伝統イカット（渦）
    インドネシア文化宮(GBI)は、2002年以降毎年、東ヌサトゥンガラ州アロール県政府と共催で、県都カラバヒで『アロール県エキスポ』を開催してきています。アロール島は、イカット（絣織り）で世界的に知られる小スンダ列島の中でも、国際的な観光リゾート地のバリ島に近い位置にあるフローレス島やスンバワ島、そしてスンバ島などと比べて、これまでその素晴らしさが見落とされてきました。やはり、小スンダ列島の“東の果て”という地理的条件がそうさせたのでしょう。しかしながら、その地理的条件がために、“観光化”されない伝統イカット製作がアロール島で守られてきたことも事実です。
    画像のイカットは、第一回アロール・エキスポ以来、毎年イカット・コンテストで受賞している、テルナテ島のウマプラ村に暮らすサリアティ・リバナさんの作品です。テーマは渦です。この布は一般的な筒型ではなく、一枚布です。サイズはおよそ160 X 122cm。重さはおよそ890グラム。総て手紡ぎ綿糸を用い、染色も総て自然色です。アロール島では、青や黒は、ニラ(Nila＝インド藍)から、黄色はカユ・クニン（黄木）やウコンなどから、そして茶や赤はムンクドゥ(Megkudu)の根から、薄い赤色は古いマンゴの木の皮から煮出したものなどを使用しています。送料はこちらで負担致します。 インドネシア文化宮は、インドネシアの24時間ニューステレビ局『メトロTV』東京支局がプロデュースするインドネシア情報発信基地です。
