    インドネシア・東フローレスの総手紡ぎ総自然色伝統イカット(優勝作品)
    インドネシア文化宮(GBI)は、NTT（東ヌサトゥンガラ）州東フローレス県政府と共催で、2006年8月14日～15日、県都のララントゥカで、『第一回東フローレス県イカット・コンテスト』を実施しました。NTTの他地域同様に、同県でも手紡ぎ綿糸を用い、自然色で染め上げた伝統イカット（絣）文化が急激に衰退の傾向にあります。このため、同県政府は、お隣のアロール県の成功例に倣い、伝統文化の存続と、地域経済の振興を念頭に、初の“島興し”プロジェクトとしてコンテストを行いました。参加イカットの絶対条件は：　(1)　手紡ぎ綿糸を使用、(2)総自然色による染め。 そして、13の郡大会を勝ち抜いてきた計20枚のイカットが最終選考に残りました。
    このイカットコンテストは、NTTのアロール県で2002年以降毎年、インドネシア文化宮(GBI)とアロール県政府が共催している大文化祭『アロール・エキスポ』をお手本にしています。そして、東フローレス県では、2006年の成功を礎に、今後も毎年、イカットを中心とした伝統文化の復活と振興に取り組んでいく計画を持っています。
    さて、画像のイカットは、『第一回東フローレス県イカット・コンテスト』で見事優勝を獲得した作品です。2006年10月7日～2006年12月9日、東京のGBIで開催された『東フローレス・イカット展』で展示されました。サイズは横が約55cm、縦が約124cmで筒型です。いわゆるサルン（腰巻）スカートです。作者は、ソロール島の西部に暮らすペトルス・ロラン(Petrus Lolan)さん、44歳です。
    ソロール島(Pulau Solor)のイカットは、次のような素材で色彩を演出しています：
    Kelori + 石灰 + シリ + Roma + Wukah →チョコレート色
    Kelori + 石灰 + シリ　→　赤色
    Tarum（藍）→　淡い青色
    Turiの葉 + 柑橘類の葉　→　淡い緑色
    Kunit（ウコン）+ 石灰　→　淡い黄色
    Kunit（ウコン）→　黄色
    Tarum（藍）の葉 + 石灰 + シリ　→　濃い緑色
