    インドネシア・最南端ロテ島の伝統銀細工ネックレス
    インドネシアの最南端に位置するロテ(Rote)島。棕櫚椰子の葉で作った楽器ササンドゥで世界的に知られる小島です。ロテ島は、ティモール島の南西に浮かびます。そのロテ島の更に西方沖合いにあるのが、とても小さなンダオ(Ndao)島。およそ一千世帯が暮らしています。この島は、イカット（絣織り）と銀細工で知られています。このダオ島でのみ作られる銀製品は、ロテ島住民、特に女性たちにとって、欠くことのできないアクセサリーです。というのも、盛装の際、そして伝統舞踊衣装に必ず着けなければならないからです。このネックレスは地元では“フアラ(Huala)”と呼ばれています。なんでも銀の含有量はおよそ60%で、残りは銅やその他の金属を混ぜているそうです。ちなみに銀は、オランダ統治時代のオランダ銀貨を溶かして再利用しています。すべて手作りです。純銀製品は酸化して黒くなりがちですが、ダオ島の銀製品はいつまでも光沢を失いません。細いワイヤを編みこんで縄のような構造です。バリ島やジャワ島の銀細工職人が真似て製造を試みても、どうしても作れないとの逸話さえあります。本当に高度な技術を駆使したものです。サイズは、長さが約66cm、太さは約0.6cm。ペンダントヘッドの直径はおよそ5cm。重さはおよそ27グラム。定形外普通郵便で発送し、送料はこちらで負担いたします。 インドネシア文化宮は、インドネシアの24時間ニューステレビ局『メトロTV』東京支局がプロデュースするインドネシア情報発信基地です。
