    インドネシア・マドゥラ島の総手描きバティック・天然＆化学染料（B）Geje Sekoseng
    東ジャワ州の州都で商業港として知られるスラバヤ市の北東の沖合いに浮かぶマドゥラ(Madura)島は、塩の生産と水牛レース（カラパン・サピ）でよく知られています。ジャワ本島のバティックが余りにも有名なため、表舞台に立つことはめったにありませんが、マドゥラ島は、知る人ぞ知る素晴らしいバティック文化を育んでいる土地なのです。中部ジャワやジャワ北岸他地域のモチーフの影響も受けていますが、草木や花そして鳥などが、コントラストを強調した色彩で描き出されています。まさにマドゥラ独特の手法です。ことに、イセン(isen)と呼ばれる細かい描写方法がよく知られています。同島にはバティック産業の中心地として二地域があります。北岸にある漁村のタンジュン・ブミ(Tanjung bumi) 、そして南岸のパムカサン(Pamekasan)周辺、ことにプロッポ(Proppo)村です。
    写真は、タンジュンブミで作られた、総手描きのバティックです。染料は天然染料と化学染料の双方を使用しています。自然染料は、藍はニラの葉やティンタ(Tinta)の葉や果肉から作り、赤はジャテ(Jati・チーク材）の葉から、そして茶系や赤系はメンクドゥ(Mengkudu)の根から、緑はアボカドの葉やロット・パロデン(Rot Paroden)の葉などから搾り出したものです。 サイズは約103 X 204cm。
    このバティックは、古布のモチーフ(Geje Sekoseng)をベースに作られた未使用品のため、一部に蝋（ロウ）成分が残っている場合があります。また、総手描きのため、ロウの塗りむらや、染めジミがある場合もあります。これらの点、予めご了承お願いいたします。定形外普通郵便で発送し、送料は当方で負担いたします。
