    インドネシア・パレンバンのシルク絞り染め布(Pelangi)古布②

    南スマトラのパレンバンで有名なPelangi（虹）と言われる絞り染め技術（ジャワ島ではJumputanと呼ばれています）と、Teritikと言われるつまみ・ろうけつ染の２つの手法で作られたこの布は涼しげな肌触りのシルク素材で、一枚一枚が手作りです。Pelangiは糸をステッチ状に縫って、強く絞った後に染料に浸すため、縁取りや大きなモチーフが特徴となります。この技術は中部ジャワや東スンバワ、マドゥーラや南スマトラで見られます。一方Teritikは糸で小さく布をくくった後にろうけつ染を行うため、小さな点々模様が特徴になります。中部ジャワとスマトラのパレンバンでよく見られる技術です。一般的にシルク地を用い、女性のサルン(腰巻)やスレンダン(ショール)が作られます。洗濯はドライ・クリーニングもしくは専用洗剤での手洗い、陰干しをお薦めします。ハンドメイドなので、ステッチやライン跡が残っている場合もありますことを予めご了承下さい。
    サルンのサイズは長さが約214cm、横幅約75cm。長い方の布の端に金糸刺繍があります。グレーのフリンジ部分は約3～4cm。およそ80年前に作られた古布ですので、経年の傷みは避けられません。この布の場合、およそ3 X 2cmの穴が一箇所、直径約1cmのホールが二か所、 約2 X 10mmのホールが多数あります。これらの点予めご了承お願い致します。現代ものでは味わえぬ古布の素晴らしさをご理解いただける方にお勧めです。
