    インドネシア・パプア州の素朴な子安貝ブレスレット
     

    インドネシア最東端のパプア州（旧イリアンジャヤ州）の中央高地、ジャヤウイジャヤ県の標高1,500メートルに位置するバリエム渓谷、そしてワメナ盆地。かつて“戦の広場”と形容された、その肥沃な高原に暮らすダニ（ラニ）民族は、そのプリミティブ・アートの高い芸術性でもよく知られています。大自然と共生しようとする暮らしぶりは、村人たちが創意工夫で生み出す、色々なアクセサリーからも見て取れます。バリエム川上流部で見つかるアンモナイトの化石と水晶の原石。そしてパニアイ地方で有名な野性蘭の黄色い茎。さらにはクスクス（有袋類のナマケモノ）や極彩色の翼を持つ鳥。それら自然物が持ち合わせている美しさに、ダニ人の感性が加わり、見事なアクセサリーが誕生します。
     

    写真は“子安貝の腕輪”です。その昔、中央高地一帯では、子安貝がお金として使われていました。小さな貝を樹皮製繊維に括り付けた、素朴ながらもどことなくモダンな感じを醸し出し、斬新です。1970年代に現地で収集したものです。
    サイズは、長さが約22cm（貝部分はおよそ18cm）、幅が約2cm。重さはおよそ20グラム。定形外普通郵便で発送し、送料はこちらで負担致します。
